Where to start?
Well I’ve had eight and a half white wine spritzers and just pulled a chili dog out of my mouth–so I think now we can talk about records. I also think it’s imperative for me to mention my favorite albums at some point, so my beloved readers can see just what kind of music I enjoy and where my influences lie.
You feel me dog?
I don’t care if you do or not. Just kidding, reach out and feel me dog. Feel my choice for my number one record of all time–listed in my top ten list on our sister site, TriYou (at the time of this writing it is being updated into a new and improved app and despite rumors, TriYou is not a draft dodger).
Here it is….In Utero by Nirvana. A lot of it for emotional reasons and posterity too.
Feel me, feel me, feel me.
I listened to the shit out of the c.d. (miniature silver records that you could play in your horseless carriage) when it came out and did not get the vinyl for years to come. It wasn’t until I owned this format that I noticed that Cobain thanked Quentin Tarantino in the liner notes, I assume for the film Reservoir Dogs. He also thanks the author of Perfume, Patrick Suskind. I think most Nirvana fans know that the lyrics to Scentless Apprentice were inspired by the aforementioned book. Just a little example of one of the numerous reasons why I love records. They really help me notice the cover art, liner notes etc.
There is something to pulling a record out of the sleeve and putting it on the turntable that just makes the experience better, a better feeling. Just as handjobs feel better without a condom, vinyl feels better than streaming music. Though I do stream music in my vehicle, that is because my bigass diesel truck made the records skip and that made me feel silly.
I feel like I have talked enough. Do you feel that? Feel me and feel some vinyl.
I feel like attempting my fist ever backflip.
Also Milk It just might be my favorite Nirvana track, and one of my favorite tracks of all time. I feel like it is obvious that I should like every song on my number one album and I do. I will leave it at that.
Can you feel that in a hole? I can too!
See you next time!
