You guessed it! No Water, Scrotum Cramps by the post punk masters Jennifer’s Beefy Shitbox.
Nah, It’s Brighten the Corners, by what I consider to be one of the greatest bands of all time, Pavement. I had first discovered Pavement in one of my Dad’s guitar magazines (man did he get mad when I used to jerk off into them). There was an article on Pavement and their album Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. I bought the CD and liked it but I wasn’t quite ready for them yet, I was still into harder rock and metal at the time.
A few years later I saw Brighten the Corners on the shelf, and it pulled me to it like a magnet. Since then, I have been in love with Pavement and everything that Malkmus does. Brighten the Corners now fills the number 7 spot on my Top Ten Album list on TriYou—beta version now available in the Android and Apple Stores. I could really put any Pavement Album on the list, but I just always gravitate toward Brighten the Corners. I love the bright and thick guitar tone throughout and it really sounds like no other band, in my opinion. It opens wonderfully with Stereo:
But there are no duds on this album, it just keeps going from there. If for some reason you have never heard this album you should go do it right now. I actually have an original pressing, so I am probably just a little bit better than you. If you have never listened to Pavement or Malkmus at all, please go do it now. It’s a lot like listening to Limp Bizkit if the music was good and the band wasn’t a bunch of assholes.
Here is a jammer from that album:
This is a perfect album for TriYou because Pavement is a band I luckily stumbled upon in a magazine and was able to share with all my friends who were into good music. My intention is that TriYou will do that for all of you. Whether you are teaching others or learning yourself I want TriYou to be the best place for sharing and discovering great music, books, movies and tv series. If you have not tried it out we would love for you to do so now.
Now its time for me to shut the fuck up. Here is the last track off Brighten the Corners aptly titled Fin-It has some of the best guitar sounds of all time, according to me:
Also don’t forget. Stay Tuned, French Toast.
