Vinyl Pull No. 79 A Great List from Casbah Records

Casbah records top ten list

We have all heard many times over. “Be careful what you wish for.”  I, for one, don’t often stop and think about what that really means too often. At a job I had about a decade ago I would frequently wish really hard that my boss get arse-fucked by an antelope.  Apparently, I didn’t wish hard enough because that never came to fruition, thus I was never able to gauge my response.

When I was a youngster, I was told that my Mom didn’t by me the Nintendo I had asked her for as my main Christmas present. So naturally I started wishing with a vengeance that she would get genital herpes.

I’m just kidding, I would never do that, I only wished she get the oral kind.  As it turns out she had bought me the Ninendo after all, and mouth herpes really aren’t that bad.  To this day I occasionally buy her some Carmex.

More recently I have been wishing we would get some interesting lists from record stores.  My wish has come true many times and once again yesterday.  We here at VinyPull were lucky enough to receive this great list from Casbah Records all the way from the U.K.  Here is a snippet from there website

CASBAH RECORDS IS SOUTH-EAST LONDON’S PREMIER INDEPENDENT RECORD SHOP. WE DROPPED ANCHOR AT 320-322 CREEK ROAD, GREENWICH, LONDON, SE10 9SW IN FEBRUARY 2009 AFTER TRADING AT GREENWICH MARKET FOR MANY YEARS.

And below is Casbah’s fascinating list in their own words:

Here is a list of our favourite albums/EP’s of what we are listening to in the shop at the moment, in no particular order…

Porcupine Tree – Closer/Continuation
Katy J Pearson – Sound of The Morning
Gwenno – Tresor

We Are The Children of The Sun (Compilation)
Joan Shelly – The Spur
Fell From The Sun – Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs Presents
black midi – Hellfire
KEG – Assembly
Kelly Lee Owens – LP.8
Michael Rault

I find this list fascinating because it is the first list we have received where I don’t know anything on it. I say be careful what you wish for because this is going to keep me pretty busy looking into all this new stuff.  This is just the kind of content we are looking for on our app TriYou and we hope that Casbah will post some more lists there when it’s published.  I would venture to guess that they would also have some really great and interesting book, movie and tv recommendations.

I highly suggest you check out their website https://www.casbahrecords.co.uk/

AND go buy some of these records from there. Personally I hope to make the trip over and check out the store in person, it looks really cool to me.  AND even though the list they sent over is going to keep me busy I can say with a pure heart that I don’t wish anyone at Casbah Records gets genital herpes.  I don’t even wish they get the silly little mouth kind.

Cheers Cabah, and thanks for the great list!
