Vinyl Pull No. 78 The RPM Winner

Over The Top Winner

You ever win anything? Yeah, me either.  Though I do count it as a win if no one uses the urinal next to me. The again, I count it as a win if someone blows in my ear in a public restroom. I suppose I can’t have it both ways.  If I am really lucky, I will have it three ways in a urinal trough.  Doesn’t everybody love urinal troughs? Here is the way the dictionary defines trough:

a long, narrow open container for animals to eat or drink out of

I can only assume these troughs are very interesting in the lady’s room. For us guys we don’t even have to win a contest to have a big hairy man breathing hard out of his nose, and sometimes telling saucy jokes, cozy up next to us testing the boundaries of personal space while we are trying to take a quiet piss.

Let’s now talk about what I think is a better win and that is a 25-dollar gift card from RPM—one of the best record stores in Columbus, or in any city for that matter.  The winner was Joe Kern and all he had to do was sign up for VinylPull and RPM’s email list.  Joe was kind enough to email us what he bought with the gift card, here it is in his own words:

Hey Rob—you ignorant piece of shit!

Just got back from RPM. I hit them up for RSD. I ended up getting Peter Gabriel: Live Blood, Gerard Way: Hesitant Alien, and Franz Ferdinand: You Could Have It So Much Better. I technically used the 25 towards the total. In my mind it was for Franz since that one was $24, but since that marked down 20% for their sale I think Jack put it towards Gabriel? Regardless, very happy with the haul and thank you for having that contest/raffle!

*He might not have included that ignorant piece of shit part, but I think it adds some spice to this post, don’t you? *

We are holding another drawing soon, so get out to RPM and sign the list and buy some records! I recently picked up what are my two current favorite LPs there—Gang of Four’s Entertainment! and The Smile’s A light for Attracting Attention.  It’s not often I get two albums this good in the same month.  Both are fucking fabulous and maybe top ten worthy.  They will certainly both make my recommended listening list on TriYou.  I highly suggest you get out to RPM and pick them both up, or if you already have them go get two others…RPM’s selection is good enough you will have no trouble at all finding some great music.

I have trouble pissing in public but that could be because my penis looks like deep fried twinkie wearing a bow tie, but I am not going to post any pictures no matter how many requests I get (wink, wink).

Again, congratulations to Joe, and get out to RPM you crazy bastards!

  2. Superb blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any suggestions? Many thanks!
