I am a stinker*. I received a great list from a great record store. I haven’t posted it until now and to understand why it took so long I had to do some deep soul searching. What I found is not very pleasant. I have been watching a lot of the A&E original show Intervention. What started out as a little bit of fun has turned into a dark habit and I had to admit to myself that I am addicted to Intervention. It has kept me from many other aspects of my life, like wiping after I shit or posting blogs of wonderful lists that have been generously sent to me.
I suppose I had a mini-intervention of my own when a close friend called me up and told me if I don’t stop binge watching Intervention I will probably end up trying to fuck a squirrel. Is that enough to scare me straight? Only time will tell, but it did give me enough of a fright to make the time to post this list from Cary via a great record store in Pittsburgh, The Government Center.
In my experience the Government Center had the best selection in Pittsburgh, especially for new vinyl. I had to limit my selection and If I had the money could have easily walked out of there with 10 new records, all of which I want and NEED. I narrowed it down to two—The John Dwyer project Bent Arcana and Gang of Four’s Solid Gold. It was a very difficult choice made even more complicated since this was the only store anywhere that I have located Bent Arcana. But ultimately, I went with Solid Gold since Gang of Four’s Entertainment! is my favorite record right now. I should have got them both! Also, my girlfriend found a used copy of The Almighty Defenders for only 10 dollars–what a great find, neither of us have seen that title anywhere, new or used.
Back to Cary’s list, he sent a hybrid list of products which is GREAT for us since our app TriYou is focused on not only music but movies, books and tv series as well. I will quit talking about it and post it now, just as he sent it to me so there is no chance that I fuck it up:
TOP TEN – Favorite Music – Movies/Shows – Books. of the last year…In no particular order
Swell Maps 1972-1980 Book by Jowe Head
Severance show apple tv
Prins Thomas – 8 LP
Pitva – s/t LP
Charlotte Adigery and Bolis Pupul – Topical Dancer LP
Sessa – Estrela Acesa LP
Bronze – Absolute Compliance LP
Laddio Bolocko – 97-99 3 LP box set
James White and The Blacks – Melt Yourself Down LP
Wire – Not About To Die LP
The only thing I am familiar with on this list is the show Severance—I think it was my favorite new show as well—so I have a lot to check out. For me, this is the BEST kind of list and I would love to share with you more lists of Cary’s if we are lucky enough to get more. Stay tuned. For now Check out the Government Center or even better– go there!
OH SHIT, I just looked out the window and saw a squirrel climbing a tree!
*By stinker I mean an unreliable, nefarious, and stupid piece of shit!
