Nirvana’s Bleach Vinyl
I NEED to get my asshole bleached. It’s become a really deep and tremendously dark maroon, it has lost almost all of its sex appeal and is no longer the photogenic little puppy it once was. Speaking of dark maroon I now wonder if that is where the band Deep Purple got their name—from my butthole? Also their song Highway Star could be another reference to an asshole, but probably not mine.
And while we’re talking about deep dark assholes anyone that says Nirvana’s Bleach is there best album is a hairy midnight blue asshole. It’s just not their best. It’s great and an album that I hold very close to my heart (and maybe my hole) but people that say that want to act like…….Well, Nevermind, they are just assholes. After Bleach they got Dave Grohl to bring the Bonham like intensity on the drums and Cobain became a better song writer, lyricist, singer and guitar player.
BUT….Bleach is great, it’s better than most any other bands best album. A friend and I learned the whole thing over about a course of a year, he on guitar and I on drums, and I never got sick of it. I’m still not. It certainly is an unbelievably good debut album and shows much of the promise the band had at the time. Unless you are one of the four people that knew about it before Nevermind, quit being an asshole, it’s a great album, but they did get better. Nevermind, of course, changed the face of music and culture and personally I don’t like a record better than In Utero.
Back to Bleach, if you have never listened to it I consider you one lucky asshole and you are in for a great experience. I LOVE every single track on it, there are no duds. It is an album where almost every song on it has been my favorite at one time or another—right now I am thinking of Sifting and Cobain howling “don’t have nothing for you”. It was also a fun song to learn on the drums. I do like Chad Channing, just not nearly at the level I like Grohl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuOxiUiKXBc
More recently, Swap Meet and Mr. Moustache have been my go to’s from Bleach but the two staples for me have always been About a Girl and Negative Creep. Man, how can I forget about School, Floyd the Barber etc…
I’m going to talk this into being my favorite Nirvana album and become a real dark asshole. I think I got the vinyl about 15 years ago for about 15 dollars. You can’t go wrong putting this one on the turntable and stretching and contorting whatever way necessary to get an intimate look at your cute little butthole and see if it needs bleached, or you could just listen. It may be better to check your hole when you are listening to a Bush or Third Eye Blind album.
This is a great, great album. Melodic, punk rock, aggressive, unique and beautiful. What is really beautiful is they get better, and it’s sad that there is not more.
I have to run to the store now for some Bleach, a wire hairbrush, Altoids and some silly putty.
